Greek Pottery 550-300B.C.



Greek pottery was made on the wheel. The clay used had a lot of iron in it, causing the pottery to turn red after firing. Many of the designs were painted with black, producing black and red pieces. The designs on Greek pottery were often Gods and Goddesses.

Bowl with a Rabbit Carrying a Strawberry in Its Mouth


This is a bowl made in the 11th century. It was made in Egypt and is called luster ware. I like it because the rabbit design fills the bowl area and it looks like it might be carved into a slip coating on the clay. Carole Iacovelli
